I have to blog for my college graduate class. Did you retire? I know a teacher who retired and was loving it, until her husband got laid off. I know a teacher who won't retire because she said she would be too bored. What made you retire?

every single day for the past four months i've had:

1 whole egg sunny side up + two whites, lots of pepper.
1 piece of buttered toast
side of mashed beans
mexican hot chocolate made with 2% milk
(nothing at all like the processed packets of swiss miss)

i find that this breakfast can keep me going for 6-8 hours withouth cravings or hunger pangs. it might seem a bit elaborate but after a while you get used to it and it really doesn't take more than 10 minutes.

i reached my goal weight/BMI in december and since then haven't gained a single pound. i have found this to be THE breakfast for me.

I left after 27 years, and you articulated my feelings SO well! Thank you for making me feel better. I didn't think it would happen, but I AM living "happily ever after" since leaving the classroom. I wish that for you too.

Firstly, Robert and I have enjoyed browsing your site. He's in his first year of teaching and I'm in my second. Your posts provide great fodder for thought and get quite a strong, thoughtful response from the teaching community.

Secondly, this year we started eledblog.com so we could build a blogging teacher community. We'd love to have you blog with us and short of that, we'd like to exchange reciprocals links because we think your blog is great. In addition to blogs, forums and lesson plans, we also envision a place to find all the best links, like you....a process we're still working on.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

[...] Ms. Frizzle left after 6 years at the same school. Try to write a long-overdue blog post about the end of the school year, but fail. The emotions are too complex. The parts about the kids and the work itself and whether you made the right decision and why come out sounding hackneyed. The parts about why you are leaving are too bitter at worst and too confused at best. You haven’t separated out your own personal shortcomings from those of the system or of the school, so leave it. It’s not something to write about yet. Worry about not being able to keep your promise to the kids to come back and coach robotics next year, because of the souring of one particular relationship that might lead to a complete separation from the life of the school you helped found. Six years ended with a cold goodbye and a handshake. Know that the kids have had promises broken before. You aren’t the first and won’t be the last. Reflect that the schools themselves are a broken promise to these kids, even the better schools. [...]

I was also bitten by the macaroon bug while in Paris this fall. My favorite: violet flavored macarron (crispy outside, chewy and moist inside) with sweetened (but not too sweet) whipped cream and huge juicy blackberries! Perhaps the best thing I have ever eaten. A very fine Almond Flour is made in the U.S. by Bob's Red Mill of Milwaukee, Oregon. Their many varied products are found througout the west and can be ordered by calling or e-mailing www.bobsredmill.com.

thanks for the idea!

I went as Ms Frizzle teaching grammar for Halloween last year (photo on my blog--I'm a college English teacher and writer)

This year I think I'll have my son put foam animal stickers all over a classic 50s taffeta dress when we go trick or treating and to a party later! I've already did my hair orange ready to go up and friz away!

(btw, you get a million hits on this again this year? I am too)
